Sending Momma Home

Why do I send Momma dogs home as soon as possible? Great question!
Primarily, I need the puppies to be raised by my resident dogs. Ouisey teaches clear communication. She sets up boundaries, and teaches respect. She enforces that not every dog is a dog that plays with them. If you've ever been rushed by a dog that is "friendly" you know it was never taught to be polite. While the Jack babies are super friendly, they are also respectful and that is thanks to Ouisey.
Bert, my absent minded golden brings oblivious to the party. He runs near/over/around them. They learn to watch feet and to leap at him on his way by. He brings zero harm to the babies and lots of fun and learning.
Squish is a blessing for so many reasons. Primarily his desire to play with the babies. He teaches them to run and jump and what safe is. He plays with toys and encourages tug and chase. He leaves if they are too bitey. However, the biggest thing, that always makes me smile, is how he self handicaps (Bert will do this too, but with one pup at a time). That means he rolls over on his back to make himself small and vulnerable. It lets the babies feel safe and powerful. Most of us agree that Self-handicapping is a sign of a very well socialized dog. And that tracks with Squish. He has grown up with random dogs and lots of puppies.
While Pippi was an incredible Momma, she would not play this way, she was a pull no punches kinda girl. She would teach things like air snaps and chicken killing hahha. While perfectly appropriate behavior, not what I want modeled here.
Green girl is showing a thirst for adventure and will most likely be doing jrt things as a pet. She investigates further than the other pups.
Blue boy is valium in a fur coat. Nothing ruffles him, exactly what I look for in a service dog.
Red girl has an amazing nose on her. She is sweet and petite (smallest now, biggest at birth)
Navy girl is that sweet spot, middle of the road. Likely a service dog potential.
Naked girl showed some fear at the family home, then was the life of the party at our second stop. She may be the girl that does what is needed to fit in wherever she goes. Which would mean pet not service dog.
Photos of Squish self handicapping this morning during play. The pups were given time to process meeting 17 people and 2 homes. Today, they start getting used to more of the house and Squish steps up on his own for a bit.
